Terms of Service

These terms are the agreement between you and Lekanis for use of the service. By creating an account or subscribing, you accept them.

What the service is

Lekanis is a study and preparation tool for students recruiting into real estate finance. It provides original written briefings on transactions and market events, practice questions, interview practice and related study features. Written material is produced with the help of AI and may be incomplete or wrong.

It is not financial advice. Nothing in the service is investment, financial, legal, accounting or tax advice, nor a recommendation to buy or sell any security or asset. We are not a broker, adviser or fiduciary, and you should not make financial decisions on the basis of anything here. We also make no promise about any recruiting or employment outcome.

Who you are contracting with

Lekanis is operated from New York, United States. These terms are a contract between you and the operator of Lekanis, reachable at privacy@lekanis.com.

Your account

• You must be at least 16, or the minimum age of digital consent where you live if that is higher.
• Give accurate information and keep your login credentials to yourself.
• One account per person. Accounts are personal and may not be shared, resold, or used by more than one individual.
• You are responsible for activity under your account.

Plans and pricing

There is one free plan and one paid plan, billed in advance through Stripe:

• Free, $0. The daily feed of deal, macro and geopolitical briefings, the three daily pulses, and glossary definitions.
• Analyst, $59 per month, or $590 per year. The annual price equals ten monthly payments, so paying annually gives you 2 months free. Analyst includes everything in Free plus the preparation features: interview-ready synthesis on every item, the graded daily question, the recruiting tracker, macro and geopolitical deep dives, archive search, saving and folders, and interview practice.

Prices are in US dollars and exclude any tax that must be added at checkout. We may change prices, but a change never applies to your current billing period, and if it affects your renewal we will tell you beforehand. Existing subscribers keep the price they signed up at unless we say otherwise.

Free trial

The Analyst plan includes a 21-day free trial for customers who have not subscribed before. A payment method is collected when the trial starts but is not charged during it. Unless you cancel before the trial ends, the paid subscription starts automatically and the first charge is taken at that point, we email you a reminder before that happens. Trials are limited to one per customer.

Automatic renewal, and your consent to it

• Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period, monthly or annual, at the then-current price for your plan, until you cancel.
• Before you subscribe, the renewal terms (amount, cadence, and how to cancel) are shown on screen and you must tick a separate, unticked consent box agreeing to them. We keep a record of that consent, including the exact text you were shown.
• We email you a confirmation when your subscription starts, containing the terms and a direct cancellation link, and we email a reminder before each renewal, including at least 30 days before an annual renewal.

Cancellation, two clicks, online

• Cancel any time from Account → Cancel subscription, or via the cancellation link in any of our billing emails. It takes two clicks: one to open the cancellation flow, one to confirm. No email, phone call, chat, or offer wall.
• Cancellation works identically on mobile and desktop.
• Cancelling stops future charges. Your access continues until the end of the period you have already paid for, and it is not cut short.

Switching between monthly and annual

You can switch billing periods at any time. A change takes effect immediately: Stripe credits the unused part of your current period against the new one and charges or credits the difference. Switching does not start a new free trial, and it does not extend one you are already in.

Refunds, 14 days, unconditional

Every charge is covered by a 14-day unconditional refund policy: email privacy@lekanis.com within 14 days of any charge, first charge or renewal, and we refund it in full. No reason required, no conditions attached. This is a policy promise, not a performance guarantee, and it is in addition to (never instead of) any statutory cancellation, cooling-off, or refund right your law provides. Outside the 14-day window we do not generally give partial refunds for time left on a plan, but if something went wrong, a duplicate charge, a billing error, email us and we will put it right.

Failed payments

If a payment fails, Stripe retries it and your access continues while it does, so a declined card does not lock you out mid-week. If the payment is still unresolved after 7 days we cancel the subscription and access ends. You can restore access at any time by subscribing again with a working payment method.

Weekly unlocks

Maintaining a reading streak can temporarily unlock a feature from the plan above yours. These unlocks are a promotional extra, last for the period stated when granted, are not part of what you have purchased, and can be changed or withdrawn at any time.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Share your account, or give others access to paid material through it.
• Scrape, bulk-export, republish or resell content from the service.
• Use the service to build a competing product, or to train a machine-learning model.
• Attempt to bypass paywalls, tier limits, rate limits or authentication.
• Interfere with the service’s operation or security, or use it unlawfully.

We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms. Where the breach is not serious we will normally warn you first.

Content and ownership

The briefings, questions and other material in the service are our original work and remain ours. Your subscription gives you a personal, non-transferable licence to use them for your own study while it is active. It does not transfer ownership or permit redistribution.

What you write, saved notes, folder names, answers, chat messages, stays yours. You grant us only the permission needed to operate the service for you, such as storing it and sending it to our AI provider when you ask for a briefing or a grade.

Third-party names, including firm names, appear for identification and commentary only. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting for any firm mentioned.

Availability

We aim to keep the service running but do not guarantee uninterrupted availability. It may be unavailable for maintenance, or because a provider we depend on fails. Features may change, and we may add or remove them.

Disclaimers and liability

The service is provided “as is” and, to the extent the law allows, without warranties of any kind, including that content is accurate, complete or current. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost opportunity, or a recruiting or investment outcome, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before it arose.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions, so parts of this section may not apply to you. Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules, and the state and federal courts located in New York County, New York have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute.

This does not take away rights you cannot give up. If you are a consumer, you keep the protections of the mandatory law of the country you live in, including the right to bring proceedings in your local courts where that law says you may. Nothing in these terms limits your statutory rights.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The date above will change, and we will notify you in the product before a material change takes effect. Continuing to use the service afterwards means you accept the updated terms; if you do not, you can cancel.
